Italy has shaped all of us and is our heritage too. We take for granted that it will always be there for us, but beauty and antiquity need constant vigilance and care to survive. They belong to the world and need the help of the whole world. FAI UK and FAI exist to enable this to happen.
FAI UK Italian – Heritage Trust, a UK-registered charity active since 2016, has two aims:
• To raise funds for FAI – Fondo Ambiente Italiano (the National Trust for Italy).
• To foster awareness and appreciation of Italy’s cultural heritage through lectures, master-classes, concerts, visits within Britain, and special tours in Italy.
Why join FAI UK?
By joining FAI UK, you will be helping fight the decay and destruction of Italy’s cultural patrimony, both natural and manmade.
FAI UK invites you to visit Italy and discover the precious treasures rescued by FAI.
FAI – Fondo Ambiente Italiano (the National Trust for Italy), founded in 1975 (drawing inspiration from the National Trust for England, Wales & Northern Ireland), is a non-profit foundation that operates thanks to the generosity of its more than 200,000 members and donors, both corporate and individual, in Italy and around the world. It promotes education, appreciation, awareness, and enjoyment of the nation’s environmental, natural, historic and artistic heritage.
FAI restores and maintains buildings and landscape in Italy acquired by donation or bequest for the benefit of present and future generations, always making sure that their future is both economically and ecologically sustainable.
FAI promotes a culture of respect for Italy’s heritage by saving, restoring, opening buildings and tracts of countryside to the public, and monitoring the protection of Italy’s environmental and cultural assets.
FAI operates on a large enough scale to make a major contribution to Italy’s patrimony and has earned the respect of government and local authorities, with which it works in harmony.
FAI lays great emphasis on action in the community; engaging the enthusiasm and love of individuals for their heritage and putting in place education projects to involve younger generations in the protection and enhancement of Italy’s heritage.
