We are delighted to invite you to the FAI UK 2023 Supporters Tour to the Italian Riviera and Genoa.

This special tour will explore the wonderful coastal region of Liguria, from Ventimiglia to the Portofino peninsula. Italy’s famed Mediterranean Riviera, where the mountains meet the sea, is renowned for its wonderful landscapes, beautiful hill villages, spectacular gardens and historical highlights. Central to this area of coastline is Genoa (known as La Superba to locals), a city that ruled over one of the finest maritime empires in medieval Europe, as evidenced by the many magnificent palazzi built by Genoa’s noble families.

Our tour will start at the western end of the Riviera, where we will visit the renowned Hanbury Gardens in Ventimiglia and enjoy a special visit to the new FAI property: Casa e Collezione Laura. We will continue towards Genoa where we will visit some of the magnificent Rolli Palazzi. With their high ceilings, grand staircases, and elaborate stucco ornamentation, the Rolli Palazzi were on an official list of palaces where visiting dignitaries, such as kings, diplomats and ambassadors, could stay in the period of Genoa’s Golden Age during the 16th and 17th centuries when its wealthy merchants became the bankers for much of Europe. Our tour would not be complete without a visit to the glorious Portofino peninsula, including a special boat trip to, and tour of the wonderful FAI property Abbazia di San Fruttuoso.

We will also be welcomed by many local FAI friends into their palazzi and castellifor special visits, lunches and dinner.
