In 2025, FAI marked its first fifty years with institutional events, new openings and important recognitions.

“Five inaugurations, numerous events and several awards: a truly remarkable year for FAI draws to a close,” commented FAI President Marco Magnifico. “If FAI – as our founders always taught and showed us – did not continue to pour its heart into overcoming obstacles, it simply wouldn’t be the FAI we love and wish for. It has been very, very beautiful, often moving, and always inspiring. A true labour of love for everyone, in the spirit of how we like to imagine our FAI: Forever, for everyone.”

8 February

The 29th National Conference of FAI Delegates and Volunteers at La Scala Theatre in Milan A civil service.

28 April

On its birthday, 28 April, a delegation from FAI from all over Italy was received at the Quirinale by the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

7 May

Opening of Podere Lovara in Punta Mesco, in the Cinque Terre Park: an environmental education centre now accessible to the public.

22 May

The restored English garden of Villa Rezzola in Lerici (SP), overlooking the Gulf of Poets, opened to visitors.

6 June

FAI dedicated its first restored property, the Monastero di Torba in Gornate Olona (VA), to its founder Giulia Maria Crespi, on the anniversary of her birth.

15 July

Opening of the Casino Mollo, featuring new visitor facilities for the ‘I Giganti della Sila’ nature reserve.

29 July

Signing of the new Framework Agreement between FAI and the Ministry of Culture, in the presence of Minister Alessandro Giuli.

16 September

Opening of the Fontana Secca hut on Monte Grappa following the reconstruction of the stable and the restoration of the Casa del Malgaro (house of the dairyman).

29 October

Presentation of FAI’s 2025-2026 programme for Schools to Minister Giuseppe Valditara at the Ministry of Education and Merit.

4 December

As part of Agrigento Italian Capital of Culture 2025, the Case Montana in the Giardino della Kolymbethra in the Valley of the Temples opened to the public.

7 December

On the occasion of the Ambrogino d’Oro celebrations, the Municipality of Milan awarded FAI the Grande Medaglia d’Oro for its fifty years of activity.

11 December

The Piero Portaluppi Foundation is ending its activity and announces the transfer to FAI of its valuable archive: drawings, books, documents, and furnishings of the famous Milanese architect will find a new home at Villa Necchi Campiglio in Milan.
